    MOTHER TONGUE

    MOTHER TONGUE
    Composed by ASIT SAHA
    The language
    that awakens hope,
    The language that expresses
    Love , affection and bravery,
    Is my mother taught Bengali,
    And we observe the Day of mother tongue,
    On the auspicious 21st Day, of February.

    We write article, letter,
    Write poem, song and story.
    To protect mother’s speech,
    We keep the day in perpetual memory.
    The crimsoned ‘Rose’ on the blood spot,
    Reminds us the noble language fighters,
    Who can deny their inspiration is mightier,
    Their bold mission ,gives great vision,
    Fight for right Is the source of revolution,
    We’re determined to follow them,
    Emancipation from bondage and slavery.
    { N.B. both English (above) and Bengali (below) have been composed by me some years ago, as a tribute to the martyrs , who laid their valuable lives for acquiring the prestigious freedom for using mother tongue Bengali in all levels of life.}

    মাত্রি ভাষা
    রচনা ঃ অসিত সাহা
    যে ভাষায় , জাগে আশা,
    স্নেহমায়া ভাল বাসা,
    সে যে মায়েরই শেখান বাংলা ভাষা ।।
    সুরযের আলো সম,
    প্রাণেরই ভাষা মম,
    কালজ্বায়ী এ ভাষা ,
    মুক্তির দিশা ।।
    কত চিঠি লিখি ,
    লিখি কবিতা, গান,
    মায়ের সন্মান রাখতে প্রান দিল কত সন্তান;
    রক্ত লেখা সে ইতিহাসে,
    শহীদের মুখ আজ ভাসে,
    স্ম্রীতির আলো শীক্ষা দিল,
    জীবনের পথ দেখায় মাত্ত্রি ভাষা।
