River Ventures Swim With The Manatees!
Another favorite stop on our travels around the 50 states:
River Ventures is located in Crystal Springs, Florida. They are a fantastic tour company that take you out to swim with these "gentle giants" (manatees) that are located in Three Sisters Springs area of the wildlife refugee.
The captains are extremely knowledgable and truly care for the protection of these incredible under water animals.
I love the fact that they also have "roped" off areas that the manatees can not be bothered in. If they don't feel like coming out to play they can stay left alone in these designated areas.
Anyone crossing these ropes and breaking the rules are fined and not tolerated for the protection of these amazing animals.
This undeveloped habitat in Kings Bay, the headwaters of the Crystal River, is critical for protection of the West Indian Manatee.
The springs in the bay stay at a constant 72 degree Fahrenheit and provide the essential warm water refuge for the manatees in the colder Florida months.
If you want to take a tour I HIGHLY recommend doing this in the winter months. The manatees flock by the masses into these gorgeous and warm springs. The colder day you take your tour, the better!
This is the lifetime of an adventure and is so much fun, I highly recommend adding this to the "travel bucket list!"
