This is what it means to me [a college student]
to be black in America. I chose an audio recording instead of a video, because the free verse seems more impacting without the listener being drawn away from the words by the face (or actions) of the speaker. I also feel that sometimes, being Black means you have a faceless voice. Or vice versa. In summary: you are never whole.....because you are merely a byproduct of America. Not her birth-child, therefore: existence here is analogous to a severely strained adoptive (parent and child) relationship.
