Antonov 225 biggest plane in the world in Iceland

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Halldor Sigurdsson heard that the Antonov An-225 was landing at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland June 26, and knew he had to see it in person. At 275 feet in length and a wingspan stretching 290 feet wide, the Antonov An-225 is the world's biggest aircraft. The aircraft was originally designed to carry the Soviet Union’s space shuttle and dwarfs the traditional 737.

Today it operates primarily as a cargo plane and holds the Guinness world record for airlifting the heaviest item, a 375,000 pound power plant generator in 2009. Sigurdsson, who got also got the chance to board the Antonov An-225 said, “It is awesome to see such a big thing fly.”
