Miss Yosemite Valley crowned Miss California 2014
Shock, tears and glee washed over Marina Inserra’s face as she was crowned the next Miss California on Saturday. montebubbles also got emotional as she struggled to get clean shots of the contestants over an enthusiastic crowd. Photo angling aside, montebubbles says the adoration of the crowd was well deserved. “People that criticize pageants have probably never been to one, or they would know how much the ladies on the stage are working their rears off and completely deserve the applause they get for doing it.”

Marina Inserra, Miss Yosemite Valley was crowned Miss California 2014 during the 90th anniversary of the Miss California Pageant in Fresno, California.
Throughout the week there were pageant talent rehearsals and competitions for the various categories.
Throughout the evening, the Miss America pageant system, promoted as the largest scholarship program in the world for women. Soon after the intro, the top 15 winners were announced followed by a showcase of finalists gradually being eliminated in categories of swimsuit (noted as physique during the pageant evening), evening gown, talent and interview.
Previously I remembered the swimsuit competition having what looked like a stage of models which was now transformed into what looked like a physique contest at Muscle Beach in Venice.
Joining the contestants on stage were Miss America, Miss Teens, Little Princesses and former Miss Californias performing dance and musical routines. The most enjoyable and funniest sequence by far for the evening was Miss California 2013 Crystal Lee and several other former Miss Californias performing a Black Swan parody ballet sequence.
Contestants were encouraged to be the best they could be. All on stage were winners and had benefitted by competing and winning scholarships as their stepping stone to a successful life.
