Natural wonders in the 50 states
The Gateway Arch
On a recent trip to St Louis with my honors society - Phi Theta Kappa - I got the chance to see the Gateway Arch for the first time. When I first saw the arch up close, I thought it should be seen as one of the beautiful wonders of the world right here in the US. Towering above me at 610 ft, the arch was shockingly sturdy yet graceful. When I was able to actually ride up the arch, I felt stunned by the view from above. Seeing the entire city from a view such as that was an experience matched by no other. On a hot, June day, the arch -- composed of metals -- was surprisingly cool. The manufacturing and technology that went into the production and erection of this arch is amazing and it represents the great triumph of our people. The arch represents the gateway to the west, a feeling I'm lucky to have experienced. Photo taken using my iPhone 5S, taken June 18th around 2:30pm.
