THE GANGA , THE FAVOURITE RIVER
During the Aryan civilization the Ganga is accepted as goddess of water. In the remarkable epic " The Mahabharata " the mentioning the name of the holy river 'Ganga' is mentioned. The people following S hind civilization accepted as the river holy flow . In modern the role of such a beneficial river is valued with importance. Many a irrigation projects are operational for the water of the Ganga. In north India the pious Hindu people respect it and offer puja or worship goddesses Ganga . Every year millions of religious people assemble at the bank of this river. Benaras, Haridwar, and even at Gangasagar of West Bengal and offer puja (worship) .There is the custom of using Ganga Waster as sacred water .
Whatever the religious views or imaginations are , the flowing of the Ganga is accepted as the beneficial source of irrigation for producing crops. For making the fertile this very Ganga has been distributing water through many of its branches . It is fact that this main river of India is the heart of the country for its divergent activities including different hydroelectric power generation and dam .
But it is sad that now a days the holy river Ganga is polluted for misusing of its water. The powerful flow is going to be chocked for gradual hindrances . The present BJP government , under the prime minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has taken vow of making holy Ganga as pollution free river. The future activities will prove what fate of the river is destined.
