    The Africa we don't see

An hour at the elephant orphanage

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Flight attendant EdinaP88 is "a regular in Africa." She couldn't resist visiting this elephant orphanage while in Nairobi, Kenya. "You are very close to them, just standing by their sides whilst the keepers get to feed them. The youngest elephants start in the first group and they are very funny and get really excited about the food they get. They can hold their own bottles and drink by themselves. Then they let them have some playtime in the mud, the crowd is taking photos, you can touch them when they come real close to you. Probably you will be covered with some mud or sand by the end as they play along," she said. "People are very nice. They really draw your attention onto poaching elephants for ivory. It is a huge problem they have to fight every day." Her fifth image was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for July 16, 2014.

Its actually the Africa you would see if you decide to go. Nairobi has taken in a big task taking care of these baby orphans. I just could not resist not to visit them whilst there, even tough I pretty much dislike tourist attractions.
