CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Uday Sripathi said, "Every year during Buddha Purnima (Buddha’s Birthday), the monastery celebrates with prayers and other events. There are many child monks who stay in the monastery who also help in the celebrations. What you see was after the celebrations ended and the kids started rushing back to their quarters."

Sripathi, is a TV Producer who fell in love with the history and beauty of the Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh, India, during his 3,000 mile journey along India's borders last year. He was featured in the Punjab episode of Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown.

This photo was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day on September 10, 2014.

Child monks rushing back to their quarters after a long religious ceremony in the Tibetan Monastery in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, the largest in India. This region was once run over by the Chinese in an attack in 1965. Most of the Tibetans escape Tibet which is under Chinese rule and settle down across many monasteries spread over India. Many families in Tibet send their children to India on a perilous journey across one of the most dangerous terrain in the world.
