    8am AST - July 5 2014 - Hurricane Arthur - Halifax Nova Scotia

     

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Jim Cyr from Halifax, Nova Scotia, captured this video of post-tropical cyclone Arthur passing over Halifax, early Saturday morning. Although Arthur is no longer a hurricane, Nova Scotia is still anticipating heavy rain, wind and power outages as a result of the storm. For more on Arthur visit CNN.

    The current conditions in Halifax Nova Scotia as of 8 AM local time on July 5 2014.

     

    Locals are getting ready for what's left of hurricane Arthur now a post tropical storm.

     

    Winds of over 90 km/h and 50 mm of rain is expected although it has not started to rain in Halifax. However the wind has been picking up and gusting at 80km/h at the airport.

     

    Around the province over 50,000 customers are without power and over 8000 around the city are also without power at this moment.

     

    Provincial parks and campgrounds have been shut down for the weekend and a number of festivals have been canceled, although the Halifax Jazz festival is still a go.

     

    The #stormchips hashtag have been trending over the last few days as locals get into the tradition of stocking up on chips soft drinks another beverages as they wait out the storm
