Your views of space and stars

And to think, some people go for the movies...

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Sarah Thornington is a Massachusetts-based iReporter who fell in love with the vast expanse above from a young age. She says: “I love how it’s just so huge. It’s just beautiful and other and it just makes you feel like such a tiny part of the world. I love that when you're just standing underneath the sky like that, it’s so beautiful, so inspiring and magical.” On June 27, she picked up her camera and tripod knowing the clear, dark skies had all the right conditions for her latest astrophotography shoot. With a double feature screening at the local drive in below, Thornington watched in surprise as a couple of shooting stars blazed through the twilight. But not one to rest on her laurels, the photographer and mother of one is already thinking about her summer stargazing bucket list -- to get “that beautiful shot of the Milky Way as it rises over the ocean.”

Wellfleet Drive In is a staple of many a Cape Cod vacation, living here, we don't get to go usually more than once a season. For me, that visit is more about the spectacular skies than the films usually. The end of June brought shooting stars, amid the gorgeous stars, on a perfect summer evening. Oh and the movies? They were fun too!!
