Portuguese Traditional Cuisine
There are lots of ways to discover the culture of a country,. The better way to discover Portugal is through its gastronomy. Known by the codfish dishes and several conventual pastries, the portuguese cuisine has a huge number of traditional recipes that you can easily learn.
The first Cooking School for tourists visiting Lisbon was opened at the beginning of this year. The Cooking School is a service provided by Different Portugal, a tourism company on the market since 2011.
Cooking Lisbon (www.cookinglisbon.com), the new brand name of the Cooking School, offers three different classes: Cooking Classes, Market Tours and Pastry and Baking Classes.
The owners present a cozy place in Lisbon where tourists can learn portuguese traditional recipes and have an enjoyable time in a friendly atmosphere. In every cooking class and market tour a team of four chefs share the portuguese gastronomy through a menu of four courses.
Nowadays Lisbon receives more than 15 million tourists and it’s one of the oldest capitals in Europe. The Romans (I century) and the Moorish (XII century) left behind several influences that still remain in the portuguese culture. Besides Lisbon, tourists usual visit Sintra (UNESCO World Heritage site), Cascais and Setúbal.
But the country has much more to see and experience, like the Port Wine region (Douro Valley region in the North) and Évora and Algarve regions in the South. Portugal means gastronomy, history, sports, beach and has an amazing weather during the entire year.
