    Your 'Aha' weight-loss moments

In December 2011, weighing in at a whopping 388lbs and also at the age of 25, I was beginning to feel disgusted with myself. In January 2012, I had promised myself that I would try to lose the weight and 50lbs was my goal. I wanted to set my goals short so I would succeed that goal and then move on to the next goal. I found out that I needed help, so I made myself an appointment with a weight loss physician in Oklahoma. In February, I went to my first appointment, and I became very interested in having bariatric surgery because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep the weight off, even if I were to lose it. I continued to go back to the doctor once a month and the scales showed that I was keeping my promise. By July I had lost 48lbs beating my surgery goal of 38lbs. I had finally decided to go ahead and have the bariatric surgery on July 26th, 2012. This July will be two years since my surgery. February 2012 (the start of my journey) I weighed 388lbs and today I weigh 195lbs, with a total loss of 193lbs and a total gain in self confidence and happiness.
One of the main reasons I decided to have the surgery is because my father is the only living male on his side of the family, all lost to heart attack/disease or cancer at very young ages. I do not want to be added to the list. I have never and will never regret having the surgery and am very proud of myself and the team of doctors who saved my life.
Since losing the weight, I am full of energy and absolutely hate to sit at home. Before, it did not bother me to come straight home from work and sit in front of the TV until it was time to go to bed and now I have to make myself come home, just to go to bed! Yes, losing the weight has boosted my self confidence tremendously, but actually knowing that I finished something that I had started makes me feel even better about myself!
