Japan is a beautiful country in the Pacific Ocean. It is a group of islands. The present capital of this advanced country is Tokyo. Though this technologically developed city is located at the bank of the Tokyo Bay , many a oceanic disasters of the largest ocean are always frightening the entire people of the country. For frequent tsunami, earthquake, typhoon and other natural calamities millions of Japanese people were washed away. Thousands of flower like babies were killed or left orphans . Living babies have forgotten to smile at the sad demise of their loving parents.
山の手 Yamanote and 下町 Shitamachi are two important parts of Japan . 山の手 Yamanote is a Japanese words, written in Kanji and the meaning is foot hill and 下町 Shitamachi has also an English meaning. Shitamachi means downtown . Both the places are important . Yamanote has high social status but Shitamachi has lower status . But for real development works the distinction between two parts of Tokyo city is gradually diminishing. The river Sumida has been flowing through Tokyo and people living at its bank have been living with the new look of mixed culture.
Japanese friend 有希子 ( Yukiko ) has very vividly highlighted Edo influence on the people of Shitamachi area. According to her description it is very clear that Edo people came there . It's called SHITAMACHI.
有希子 also said “ Shitamachi is fomed by Shogunate during Edo era. Edo people carried
some things to center of Edo city by boat. River is important in Edo era.
Anyway, she likes to see a view of river. It makes me feel relaxed.
Kanda shrine is Shinto. In the Edo era, It protect all of Edo people from evils
as protectorate God of the Edo city. It is keeping do that for nearly 1300 years.
I'm gonna go to Nagoya for a short trip for next weekend.
I'll visit to ISE shrine. ISE shrine is Shinto, too.
It's the Japanese Goddess of the Sun and the God of clothing, food and housing.
Gods are present everywhere in Japan. A great festival of Shitamachi is “Mikoshi”. Matsuri. Like Rathjatra of India, Japanese people enjoy the Mikoshi festival. people enjoy very much.
