CNN PRODUCER NOTE Dazzling fireworks marked the end of an era in Cambodia. Jim Heston says the fireworks display was in honor of the late King Norodom Sihanouk. Although he passed away on October 2012, his ashes were taken to their final resting place on July 11. Heston was at the Port of Phnom Penh when he took these photos. He has been living in the country for more than 14 years and was there during Sihanouk’s reign and his death. "There were many days of mourning. Hundred days later there was a parade through the streets of Phnom Penh,” he said. Thursday was a much smaller procession, which transported the late king’s ashes through the town and the day was considered a holiday. "These fireworks were his final farewell," he said.
