    80 MPH speed limit

Last year, Utah started raising the speed limit to 80 MPH on some portions of interstate highways.
The reason specified by law makers is that many people felt comfortable going 80 versus 75. This, in theory, would reduce accidents by allowing everyone to go at the same speed; those that speed and those that followed the speed limit.
However, as I learned on my drive yesterday, those that were speeding then, are still speeding now. As I was going at 80 MPH I was being passed by many speeders, that now feel comfortable going 85 MPH.
This just goes to show that no matter how high the speed limit is, there will always be those that like to live on the edge and go a little faster than permitted by law.
