    Supermoon NYC-Style

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Mikiodo loved photographing the Supermoon so much on Friday, he did it again on Saturday night. “Living in NYC, I am always craving some nature; I don't get enough. So I often look to the evening and nighttime skies to get my fix,” he said.

Living in NYC, I am always craving some nature; I don't get enough. So I often look to the evening and nighttime skies to get my fix. I realized that Manhattanhenge and the supermoon were happening on the same nights in July, so I was excited about capturing them.

I photographed the supermoon two nights in a row, July 11 and July 12. The first night, after photographing Manhattanhenge in the western sky, I turned in the other direction to see the moon rising in the east. I shot the moon from the east village as I walked home to my apartment.

The second night I decided to change locations. I often bike down the West Side Highway path at night, and always admire the beautiful view of midtown. I always wanted to photograph the moon rising up over midtown. The timing was right with this supermoon, so I waited for it to rise above the buildings, and it delivered.
