    Sleep in a Wigwam

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Brian Snider says there was no stopping his wife from selecting the Wigwam Motel in Cave City, Kentucky, as their vacation hotel in 2011. “She likes all things 'roadside America' and she thought that staying here would be a lot of fun, which is was,” he said. The Wigwam Motel chain was created in the ‘30s and ‘40s. Of the original seven locations, only three still exist, including this one.

We usually don't let my wife pick the hotel rooms because she always goes for thrift rather than comfort. Nevertheless, we could not stop her from selecting the vintage accommodations of the Wigwam Motel on our family vacation in 2011. She likes all things 'roadside America' and she thought that staying here would be a lot of fun, which is was. We also had a little family history with the Wigwam chain. My parents stayed in a Wigwam on their honeymoon. The Wigwam hotel chain was built in the 30s and 40s. There were originally 7 locations; three of them are still operating today. The one shown here is in Cave City, KY.
