Interview With DMV Based Rapper Sir LLoyd

Give us some background info as to who you are.
I was born in Oakland, CA. Raised in Birmingham, AL. I've always had a passion for music. I played snare drum in the marching band while in high school. I didn't know what I really wanted to do after I graduated, so decided to join the Navy following my father’s footsteps. After my 4 years of service, I moved to the DMV area to pursue my passion for music. I’ve had some hardship along the way while battling Cancer. Now that that battle has been conquered, I feel there is nothing that can stop me from achieving me dream.

What is the significance of your name?
My name Stage name is “Sir Lloyd”. I use Lloyd because it my middle name and the only thing I still have that was given to me by my father. I use the word “Sir” because it’s a respectful way to address a man with authority. And I want the world to know that I have authority over my life.

    Who is your target market?
I make music for everyone that loves hip hop. Especially those who are like-minded and can relate to my music.

What is your USP? (Unique Selling Proposition) and what sets you apart from other artists?
My music isn’t about killing, crime, or violence though I was raised around it my whole life. I only talk about real life situations, my life experiences, and what life is like through my own eyes. I also have a unique voice! I have a sound that’s different, and people are attracted to it. I also put out quality music. I feel like there’s not enough artists putting enough effort into making quality music, so I’m here to bring that back.

What single or project are you currently pushing?
I am pushing my single called, “Ballout”. It’s had thousand of plays with no promotion. It’s also had positive reviews by Rich Dollaz from VH1’s ‘Love & Hip Hop’ and Grammy nominated producer, “Shawn Campbell”. They both loved it said it’s a hit song. So that’s the single I’m currently pushing.

What is the philosophy by which you live by?
Most people just want to live and say that they've had a good life. But I've always wanted more than just a “good” life. So my philosophy is “I’m willing to lay down a good life for a great life”.

    Which artists have inspired you?
There are many artists that have inspired me, but the one who has inspired me the most is Lil Wayne.

    Who does your production?
I've mostly worked with producer “Ron Vento” in NightSky Studios. He does all my mixing & mastering. I've also worked with PurpsOnDaBeat, G the mastermind, fallout beatz, etc

What is your album going to be like?
My EP is going to be the best EP of the year. People will love it because I put real life situations that everyone can relate with behind some powerful instrumentals that will have everyone lost in the music.

    What is your website?
