DRINKING WATER POLLUTED IN RIO GRAND VALLEY!
Under Cover investigation uncovers health hazards in the Rio Grande.
Every second, 317 gallons of raw sewage are dumped into the Rio Grande from the Mexican City of Reynosa.
The water tests positive for bacteria that causes e-coli and hepatitis. More than 200 times the U.S. limits.
Another major concern is toxic waste from Reynosa's 200 factories. The same companies are known to use chemicals that cause cancer and birth defects.
Mexico does not require companies to report environmental data, which means the country doesn't even know the extent of the contamination.
The good news is the city of Reynosa is working to clean up, thanks to a multi-million dollar project paid for in part by the United States.
