Proposal to build a toll road getting opposed by Kids!

    To Whom it May Concern,

We are homeowners in Wyndham Lakes, Orlando a community that now is facing a critical issue. The (OCX) Osceola County Expressway Authority is proposing to build a toll road inside of our community. Our daughters Anissa (9), Alexa (8), Andrea (7) and Alanis (5) have been taking this issue seriously sending letters and videos to government official opposing to this road. The reason for this email is for kids to learn that speaking up for their community is not a bad idea, because after all, they are the future. Could we add a ‘blog’ about this issue and the impact in the neighborhood kids? Here's a piece of the letter we wrote to the state officials:

    To Whom It May Concern,

My husband Jeff Waller and I, Aitza Del Valle have 4 beautiful daughters. We live in Wyndham Lakes Estates. We wish to object to the Osceola Parkway Extension that could negatively impact our home and our community. We bought our home in May 2012. The main reason of purchasing this property was that the backyard faces the lake along with the quietness and peacefulness of being in a cul-de-sac.

Yesterday, I took the girls to our community clubhouse where our Commissioner and Builder presented the proposed OCX project to the homeowners. Our daughters had no idea of the topic of the meeting or as the reason as of why so many residents were there. After we got home, our daughters had many questions about this proposal since our house will be impacted greatly by this proposed toll road extension. As an immediate neighbor to the site we believe that the proposed development will have a serious impact on our standard of living. Our specific objections are as follows:

    1. The toll road extension proposal would be entirely out of character with the neighborhood. The proposal would harm the amenities enjoyed by the residents located on the lake, in particular our views, valuable green space, privacy and the right to enjoy a quiet and safe residential environment. This will have a detrimental and visual impact upon the neighborhood and our property.
    2. The impact on the local eco-system and nature around the lake.
    3. Traffic pattern likely to result in noise, sleep disturbance, smell, and pollution. Most likely producing dust, dirt, vibration, fumes and smoke so as to affect adversely the public health, safety, and general welfare, as well as the peaceful use, enjoyment, and value of surrounding properties like ours.
    4. We also have concerns about the impact of the proposed toll road in terms of drainage as well as ground stability around the lake.

We believe that the proposed development would have a negative impact on our community and in our right for quiet enjoyment of our property. We would be grateful if you would take our objections into consideration when deciding this matter. Please find in YouTube a video that our daughters made expressing their objection to build this road in our neighborhood, the one we call home: Wyndham Lakes Estates. The name of the video is: OCX opposition by the Waller girls -Video1 or at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXPEFQnxnpo

We would welcome the opportunity to meet with a representative of the Osceola Parkway Extension Project at our home to discuss and illustrate this matter further.

    Sincerely,
    The Waller Del Valle Family

Since then, the kids have been speakers in public meetings and continue to do their due-diligence to show that kids have a voice that needs to be heard! Please see the attached video from the latest public meeting where my daughters spoke about the danger of this road...

    Thanks,
    Waller Del Valle Girls…..
