Super Model and Midwife Honored for Saving Mothers and Babies

iReporter and Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle Dr. Phyllis Olmstead presented internationally known midwife Jenny Joseph and super model and maternal safety advocate Christy Turlington Burns "Service Above Self and Four Way Test" coins for their unwavering support of mothers and babies.

On one side of the coin is Rotary International’s motto “Service Above Self” and one of their six areas of focus is “Saving Mothers and Children.” On the other side of the ceremonial coin was the The Four-Way Test that states “Of the things we think, say or do 1.Is it the TRUTH? 2.Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3.Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4.Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”

Turlington Burns, founder of Every Mother Counts, was honored at the fundraising event #4Mommys at Mingos in Orlando July 17, 2014. Jennie Joseph, of Winter Garden, founded Commonsense Childbirth and The Birth Place. Emcee for the event was Miss America 2004, Ericka Dunlap.

At the end of the event, Dr O presented the coins and says that "I am greatly impressed by both of the women's dedication and untiring efforts to save women from damaging or fatal pregnancies and deliveries and in making sure that babies are born fullterm so that they will not suffer, die, or require costly intervention to rear and educate."

Jennie Joseph saves babies by The JJ Way. Normal black baby full-term full-weight delivery level in Central Florida is about 80% (1 in 5 black babies are born premature). A 100 patient study of The JJ Way showed 100% full-term, full-weight results.Joseph's motto is "Keeping Babies in Bellies."

Local sponsors included Orlando City Commissioner Sam Ings and his wife June, Dr Phyllis Olmstead, Olmstead Publishing and Lake County Rotarian from Apopka, and many young and beautiful Orlandoans. The event #4Mommys was a complete sell-out of all seats in the restaurant. It began with a red carpet social with silent auction, followed with a three course dinner, and wrapped up with presentations by Joseph, Turlington Burns, and Dunlap.
