    Lost 125 pounds..almost there

    In July 2012 my world changed. I nearly died from a staff infection caused by diabetes (I didn't know I had). I was homebound for 7 months and that is when I decided I had to lose this weight, I could not let food KILL me ! I was 334 pounds and my life was very restricted, from not being able to sit in a booth at a restaurant, not being able to tie my shoes, could barely walk any distance... I could go on and on. I wanted to have the weight loss surgery but my insurance would not pay for it - ironically it probably was the best thing. Having to do this the right way, working out and eating healthy - it's a lifestyle change and it CAN be done. I began by using My Fitness Pal, logging every bite I put into my mouth, I lost 80 pounds in 8 months and hit a plateau. I was amazed when I saw how many calories were in most of my favorite foods, this knowledge was key to my success. My next step was a personal trainer, yep this was quite scary, me in a gym?? I got super lucky and found a trainer that had lost 165 pounds, he understood me , not many people can understand this kind of weight loss. Since joining the gym I have lost another 45 pounds but more important is I am eating healthy and strength training. I am 55 years old and last week I deadlifted 195 pounds !!! Building muscle is so key to raising my metabolism and its working !! My health is much improved....I was on 80 units of insulin per day - now I am insulin free :-) Not only did my trainer help me in the gym but he coached me on changing my eating habits. I went from eating twice a day and being morbidly obese to eating 6 times a day and losing weight....WOW kinda crazy right? I have had days where I have just blown it but I get right back on track !! I have about 50 more pounds to lose to get to my goal weight and I am confident I will get there. I had been every diet you can imagine and none of them worked, there is no magic pill to take, nope...just hard work and eating clean !! I also rewarded myself every 25 pounds with a piece of jewelry and on the 125 pound mark I got myself a new car !! Life is good and I cant wait till the day I say "I DID IT" and reach my final goal.
