    Pacific Park

In Santa Monica, California is the ungated and no admission fee Pacific Park. It is located on the Santa Monica Pier - a land bordering the Pacific Ocean. It is the only recreational park with a merry-go-round, Ferris Wheel, roller coaster, booths, refreshments, food outlets, shopping et al, on the West Coast which is established on a wharf.

Its beginning as an amusement park was in 1916. It was then known as Pleasure Park. It prospered during the 1920s and experienced the Great Depression.

In 1989, it was restored and made the promenade an active and continuing commercial transpiration with rides, shops, restaurants and live entertainment resonating the 1920s and 30s.
