    Amusing the masses-Coney Island!

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Linda Glovach said her favorite thing about Coney Island is, "the variety of people and the openness. Most folks here let down their guard once they get the Coney Island sand in their shoes and you can blend with the natives, tourists, visitors, alike and have a wonderful time just outside of the city of New York."

Coney Island has been New York's ocean side amusement district since the 1800s. "People from all over the world come here so I don't have to go far to get a cultural experience," Glovach said.

It is hard for me to narrow down my pictures of Coney Island as I spend a lot of time there and have since a teenager, when I first fell in love with it.
It is more than an amusement park, it is definitely a state of mind as so many people have referred to it. You would have to go and see for yourself what you like about it.
It encompasses a lot of blocks so you could walk the boardwalk all the way down to Sea Gate, and on the way catch views through the lots of the new World Trade Center. You could also take the new Boardwalk Flight ride and on some clear days see the skyline of Manhattan. You can see flourishing community gardens, a few stray cats, and non stop interesting colorful people from locals to all over the world. Coney Island is a cultural treat, so come on down,
Here are only a few of the many photos I have.
Photo #9 is Charles Denson with his wonderful book "Coney Island-Then and Now." at the history project booth and last picture is of me, taken just before Coney's dramatic comeback..
    Thank you.
