American Represents USA in FINALS of NEW WAVE

American representing the USA in "Finals" of New Wave: International Competition to find the best NEW POP STAR. NOW! July 22 - July 27.
At a time when President Obama and Putin are at odds and in conflict 19 year old Tyshawn Colquitt is standing alone in the country of Latvia competing against (16) stars from all over the world and most from the former Soviet Union: Moldova, Ukraine, Latvia, etc.
These young people are competing against each other proudly representing their countries. But, after 10 days of rehearsing and preparation for this television show they have become the best of friends.
Tyshawn arrived in Riga July 12. There have been 10 grueling days of 12 hours: rehearsals, interviews, public appearances etc.
This competition is more comparable to the Olympics than American Idol or The Voice.. Everyone in the competition is relatively famous in their own countries such as Julia Plaksina is the winner of X-Factor 2012 in the Ukraine and Antonio Maggio from Italy won X Factor 2008 and Festival di Sanremo in 2013.
And yet, here stands Tyshawn alone and he can very possibly win this competition.
Tyshawn and his family live in Winton Terrace:one of the rougher areas of Cincinnati. He helps his single mother with his 8 brothers and sisters while she attends University of Cincinnati. He graduated from School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) where he was their Corbett Award winner for 2012 and many others. He also won the Apollo Theater 3 times at an early age of 13.
Tyshawn was afforded this opportunity to travel to the New Wave competition because, he is a member of the S.T.A.R.S. (Striving To Achieve Real Success) program,
S.T.A.R.S. is a non- profit 501(c3). The program teaches inner city youth how to write and produce music, film & video, "the business" of entertainment and life skills. The program has studios in Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio. S.T.A.R.S has participants as far away as South Africa, Brazil and Australia. Participants in S.T.A.R.S. work globally creating projects of original music, film and video, and are given opportunities to perform in their communities as well as internationally. For more information about the program see www.starsworldwide.org.
This has been an extremely empowering experience for this young man. Imagine stepping out of the ghetto onto the world stage..
And while Obama and Putin fight with words these young people respect, and compete, yet have learned to love each other despite all cultural and language barriers."
