This iReport is part of an assignment:
For Human Rights Alone ~
Just a few days ago in Chicago I had the privilege and honor to meet some great people. There was a good vibe in the air of inspiring and great proportions. I met several Palestinian Americans ~ all born and raised here in the U.S.
I began to ask myself what is that stirs such an emotional and passionate plea for Palestine?
Why did thousands gather?
At this protest I saw Americans from all walks of life: German, African, Mexican, Polish, Colombian, Italian and more. All Americans.
When I began to ask people why they were compelled to show their support the answers seemed to echo.
"The massacrers must stop."
"For justice there."
"Freedom is a human right."
"Our parents' parents' came here to the U.S. for freedom and prosperity ; every human being deserves that right even Palestinians do."
So, I was glad to have met these ladies ~ if for no other reason than human rights alone.
" To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity." Nelson Mandela.
