Cultural Project "Maidan - (R)Evolution of Spirit"

Today Independence Square of Kyiv hosted a presentation of a big cultural project “Maidan – (R)Evolution of Spirit”. The author and curator of the project, Antin Mukharskiy, presented Great Almanac “Maidan – (R)Evolution of Spirit” that gathered on its 300 pages interviews, essays, analytical articles by great Ukrainian artists, philosophers, historians, art specialists, participants and witnesses of events that had taken place on Maidan during the protests in Nov 2013 and Feb 2014. Antin said that “we created this book so that we would remember how it really happened”.

Other parts of this cultural project are photography exhibition and catalogue and a series of documentary films.

While working on the photography project the organizers and curators looked through about 5000 photos by more than 150 photographers. He best 50 photography works are the basis of movable photo exhibition and the catalogue.

On behalf of grateful people of Ukraine the presentation edition of these photos was gifted to world leaders and people of art who had supported Ukrainian Maidan, as well as to the world museums and art institutions. Among them Pope Francis, Queen of the United Kingdom Elizabeth II, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, David Cameron, Madonna, George Clooney, Paulo Coelho, and many others.

Also this project may be interesting to collectors, sponsors and people who are not indifferent to the destiny of Ukraine as all the works are collectibles. Author's edition of each work is 10 copies. All the money received from the sale of photos will be used for future art events as well as to support modern Ukrainian art and artists.

More than anything this project is a tribute to a very important historic event of Ukraine’s stand for freedom and independence and to those who gave their lives for better future of our country.
