Xarelto Side Effects Lawsuit News: New Lawsuit Alleges Xarelto Anticoagulant Medication Causes Uncontrolled Bleeding And Death

Close to 10 Xarelto side effects lawsuits have been filed in the United States against Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a division of Johnson & Johnson and Germany-based Bayer AG over its blood-thinning medication. Court records indicate that a Florida woman filed a Xarelto side effects lawsuit complaint on June 23, 2014, in U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida that alleges her husband was prescribed Xarelto in January 2012 to treat atrial fibrillation. According to the Xarelto side effects lawsuit, the spouse was hospitalized on June 23, 2012, after suffering a subdural hemorrhage. He underwent a medical procedure in an attempt to stop the bleeding, but died five days later. The Florida woman’s Xarelto side effects complaint contends that the defendants, Janssen Research & Development and Bayer, concealed their knowledge to consumers, the general public and the medical community that Xarelto allegedly causes life-threatening irreversible bleeds. The Xarelto side effects lawsuit further contends the defendants did not warn or advise how to intervene and stabilize a patient should a bleed occur. (Case 9:14cv80831)

Xarelto, generically known as rivaroxaban, is a prescription blood thinner manufactured by Bayer and marketed in the United States by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a division of Johnson & Johnson. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved Xarelto for treatment in reducing deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients who had knee or hip replacement surgery and for reducing stroke and blood clot risks in patients with atrial fibrillation. According to the FDA, Xarelto does not have an antidote for effectively treating severe bleeding linked to the coagulant.

According to recent Xarelto side effects lawsuits that have been filed, the blood thinner medication drug Xarelto (rivaroxaban) is alleged to cause uncontrolled internal bleeding that might be irreversible, that could result in serious life-threatening injuries and even death.
