    Glorious puffin

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     While volunteering at the Alaska SeaLife Center one summer, KF777 answered questions about the seabirds and kept an eye on the birds to make sure none of them escaped from the exhibit. "Volunteering ... was an amazing opportunity to be present with the birds enough to almost breathe in rhythm with them, which allowed me to anticipate some of their movements and capture images such as this one."
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

I spent the summer of 2008 in Seward, Alaska, to get a break from Tucson's summer heat as well as to get a new perspective on life after a bad breakup. I spent two hours a day volunteering at the Alaska SeaLife Center, one hour of which was spent in the seabird exhibit. It was a remarkable privilege that I'll never forget and some of the most blissful meditation I've ever experienced. I was by myself in the exhibit much of the time, and the opportunity to just be present with the seabirds was a tremendous honor. Getting photos such as this one of a tufted puffin spread its wings was an added bonus.
