Can waiting in line make you & your kids more grateful? Yes!

Waiting in line CAN make you and your kids more grateful. Watch the video to find out how - it's this week's FREE parenting tip for how to get happier & more grateful children and for how to be happier & more grateful yourself!

If someone had told me 10 years ago that "waiting" for anything would become one of my most used paths to gratitude and happiness, I would have said they were crazy. But I would have been wrong, because today, "waiting" has become one of my favorite ways to remember to be grateful and has turned waiting at the bus stop into one of the best parts of my day!!

With that in mind, this week's tip for getting Happier & More Grateful Children, and Being Happier & More Grateful Yourself is: Use the time that you find yourself waiting this week to be grateful. My girls and I will be doing this right along with you! In fact, we have another very long car ride coming up and I'm going to encourage everyone (even my husband!!) to use some of the time we're traveling to turn off the devices and think of the many things they have to be grateful for.

We all spend a lot of time waiting, whether it's in line at the grocery store, at a traffic light, waiting at the doctor - wherever it is, we spend a lot of our day, and so do our children, waiting.

Too often these days, however, instead of using this time to think or to do something else productive, we're on our phones, our children are on their phones and we're not taking any time to just 'be'.

So, this is the perfect opportunity to practice gratitude and presence. This week, whenever you find yourself waiting, turn off the noise and distractions and to think of things that you're grateful for.

You can think of one person, place or thing that you're grateful for and really feel grateful for that person, place or thing. You can make a list of things that you're grateful for, or you can just look around, wherever you are and see all of the things that you're grateful for that are related to where you're waiting. For example, if you're at the grocery story, be grateful we have grocery stores and for everything that you can get there. Take a minute to imagine life without grocery stores and you'll definitely feel grateful for them. If you're outside, look around and be grateful for the amazing things around you and in nature.

This is so easy, it's so fun and it doesn't take any extra time because you're already waiting and it will bring so much gratitude and happiness into your life and into your children's lives.

Plus, your kids won't just be learning to focus on and think about what they're grateful for, but they're going to start learning how to be more present, without technology and other distractions - a very important life skill and absolutely necessary for gratitude and happiness - but also one very much lacking these days. This will help them not be completely tied to their technology and entertained every minute of every day.

So watch the video and then get the super simple, step-by-step directions at http://cherifogarty.com/how-waiting-in-line-or-anywhere-else-can-make-you-your-kids-more-grateful/

Remember, you're waiting anyway so you may as well use the time to think of things you're grateful for!

Now, while this is super simple, remember that knowing it and doing it are two very different things so make sure to do it this week and to have your children do it too!

I hope this tip has served you, and that you and your children will do it this week! If you liked this video please share it with any busy moms or dads you know who want to have happier & more grateful children and be happier and more grateful themselves!

We can have happier and more grateful children. We can be happier and more grateful ourselves. We can change the world, one child, and one family at a time starting with our own.
