The lure of lighthouses
Sleep in Scottish Lighthouse
The Buchan Ness Lighthouse, located in Boddam, Scotland. Built in 1827, near Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, on Scotland's northeast coast, thev two lodgings for the lighthouse keepers now serves as self-catering cottages for visitors. Sunrise over the North Sea is just one of the features of this delightful site. A coal-fueled fireplace, a handy kitchen and beautiful & charming appointments all around the place make it a wonderful and romantic vacation rental.
This section of Scotland is northeast of Aberdeen. At Fraserburgh is the Scottish Lighthouse Museum, which is a must-see for any lighthouse enthusiast. Plus, the area is home of many fantastic Scottish-links type golf courses, includng Cruden Bay, Peterhead and Fraserburgh.
Also nearby is the Castle Trail and Royal Deeside, as well as the Whisky Trail for some of Scotland's finest distilleries.
