    WHAT: Over 250 kids have preregistered to participate in the 2nd annual
    Mateen Cleaves “1 Goal, 1 Passion” summer basketball camps presented by Grand Rapids, Mich. –based retailer Meijer. The three-day camps held in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing, Michigan, provide a platform to encourage children to make healthy choices for their minds and bodies. The camps focus on basic life skills including goal-setting sessions, self-esteem exercises, environmental awareness as well as health and nutrition education, character development, and basketball drills. The camps are sponsored in part by Coca-Cola and Fathead. Transportation for participating youth is provided by Dean Transportation.

    WHEN: Tuesday, July 29th through Thursday, July 31st.
    Two sessions will be held daily catering to different age groups;
    Session I: 9 a.m. to Noon, ET. (8- to 12-year-olds)
    Session II: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., ET (13- to 17-year-olds)

    WHERE: Aim High Sports Complex
    Centerline Drive
    Diamondale, MI 48821

    WHO: Mateen Cleaves will lead the camps daily and will be joined by NBA players and Spartans including the “Flintstones” Morris Peterson, Antonio Smith and Charlie Bell, plus MSU’s Andre Hutson, Travis Walton, Jason Richardson, Dujuan Wiley, Draymond Green and Robaire Smith.

    Located at 4315 Pleasant Grove Rd, Lansing Charter Township, MI 48910. The Boys & Girls Club of Lansing began in 1964. For more than 40 years the focus of this community agency has remained on youth from disadvantaged circumstances, who lack appropriate resources and role models for success in school and/or employment. The mission has broadened from recreation and socialization to include education in a broad range of life skill areas. The Club provides afterschool and summer programs promoting educational and career development, character and leadership development, and healthy lifestyles for more than 800 boys and girls.
