    81 pounds in 6 months

At Christmas in 2013, I weighed in at 275 pounds. On Jan. 19 of this year, I was still 270.4 pounds, and a friend was embarking on a weight loss plan, and I decided to join him.

My plan was simple. I was already an active weighlifter, at the gym 4-5 nights a week. I added cardio to the mix for the first time, and also put myself on a 2,000-calories-or-less per day diet. Simple. No paleo diet, no Atkins, no Weight Watchers. Just 2,000 calories or less, and exercise. Eat less, move more.

In May, I was bored at the gym and decided to hit the running track to see how far I could go. I ran three miles. I'd never before run more than a mile at a time in my life. On my birthday in June, at the beach, I went for a 10-mile run. Last night, I did 8.1 miles around my hometown.

This morning, I weighed in at 189.2 pounds. I'm wearing 30-inch waist jeans. On Jan. 19, I was wearing 40s, and those were tight. My shirts were all XXLs. Now I wear mediums.

All of this in six months, and I still eat what I want - hamburgers, pasta, sweet treats. I just eat smaller portions.

My story is unique because it doesn't involve any gimmick diet or exercise plan that is not easily repeatable.
