CNN iReport Music Spotlight: Interview With Rapper One Take

Give us some background info as to who you are.

My name is One Take also known as OT. I'm an artist, singer, songwriter and rapper hailing from Queens, New York. Training Camp is the movement and label.

What is the significance of your name?

The name One Take came about when I used to have to record myself. To save time recording, I would have to lay down my verses in one take.

    Who is your target market?

My primary market consists of music fans (both male & female) between the ages 15-35.

What is your USP? (Unique Selling Proposition) and what sets you apart from other Hip Hop artists?

I write music for all genres. Hence, you will hear the One Take influence through other artists that aren't necessarily in the Hip Hop world as well.

What single or project are you currently pushing?

I currently have two singles that are currently building momentum that we are pushing. And they are "Verrazano" and "Buy You."

What is the philosophy by which you live by?

My philosophy is "Train hard, win easy."

    Which artists have inspired you?

All types of artists have inspired me. I listen to everything. A few major ones I could think of are Bob Marley, Sizzla, Vybz Kartel, Jay-Z, Biggie of course, and definitely Michael Jackson. There are too many to name. I don't want to leave anyone out.

    Who does your music production?

Most, if not all of my production is done by my own in house-producer Jonny Benjamin. However, I am open to working with other dope producers.

What is your opinion of the current state of the music industry?

It could use some renovation. I think that music has drifted away from meaningful content and gravitated towards trends and money making opportunities.

If you can change one thing about the music industry what would it be and why?

I would change the piracy of music. People put a lot of time and effort into making music.

Are there any singers that you would like to collaborate with in the future?

I would love to collab with Breezy. I think Chris Brown and I would be able to make some memorable music.

What music producer would you like to collaborate with in the future?

I would love to work with Pharrel Williams. That's self explanatory.

What is your favorite movie and favorite book?

My favorite movie would have to be "Man On Fire" with Denzel Washington. And my favorite book is the bible.

What are some major misconceptions that you think people have of you?

The biggest misconception is that I'm just a rapper. I am multi talented. I'm a singer/songwriter as well and an overall artist.

What is your favorite part of your live show? How has it evolved?

My favorite part involves the energy of the crowd

Interaction with the crowd is definitely my favorite part. It is inspiring that people know my music.

    What is your website?

    The website is www.ThisisTrainingCamp.com

Any final words for the people.

Be on the look out for the single "Buy You"and look out for my other artist as well on Training Camp Music: Matt Hill, Tone-EZ and Munch Ali.
