Sci-fi young adult movie PINK ZONE is the opening night celebration of the 2014 Action On Film International Film Festival

After its critically praised World Premiere at the Chinese Theatre as part of the 2014 Dances with Films Festival, the science-fiction girl power movie PINK ZONE has just been selected as the opening night movie for the 10th Action on Film International Film Festival.

In PINK ZONE's world, women are on the verge of extinction. A deadly kissing virus, carried by men and transmitted to women, has wiped out 80% of the female population. Only a few teenage girls have managed to survive.

As a "safety", the US government initiated a project to deport all the remaining girls into areas supposed to protect them. This project is named : "PINK ZONE".

French Writer/Director Benjamin Walter describes PINK ZONE as “a genre mix of sci-fi, teen movie and sexploitation, the arthouse B-movie version of The Breakfast Club meets The Hunger Games”.

For The Examiner, it is “David Lynch's Blue Velvet meets PD James' Children of Men, meets Roger Corman's Teenage Doll”.

PINK ZONE shows a place where teenage girls have to please men in order to survive. And like a lot of genre films with female leads before, it passed the Bechdel test !

PINK ZONE is the first feature film of Benjamin Walter and also his UCLA Thesis Film.

The film will open the festival at the Krikorian Theatre in Monrovia on August 22nd, starting with the red carpet at 8PM.
