An old Chinese proverb says ' A picture says more than thousand words'..Here I am writing about one photo, taken in 1915. Recently,I came across it and I could not get rid of the feeling that, in this black and white photo, it was perpetuted the moment when human race reached its deepest bottom. The photo shows a Turkish official teasing starved Armenian children by showing bread during the Armenian Genocide in 1915.Do you know something about the Armenian Holocaust? I did not know anything,to be truthful..But,after I saw this photo,I decided to get more knowledge about it.. The Armenian Genocide took place in 1915, during and after WW1, and it is estimated that between 1 and 1,5 million of the Armenians were killed by the Ottoman government, the present -day Republic of Turkey. The Genocide was implemented in two phases: the wholesale killing of the able-bodied male population through massacre and forced labor, and the deportation of women, children, the elderly and infirm on death marches to the Syrian Desert.Even today, almost a century later, the Euphrates River is filled with the bones of dead Armenians. I do not know who took the photo above, but thanks to that person, we can see how human race looks in its worst edition. To starve,to torture,to kill the children is something most awful human race can do.Whoever is able to hurt any children in such a way, he does not deserve to be called human being. He is the lowest form of creature,at least for me..Maybe not even that,he is nothing.
Ironically, the circle of life tells us that this man, from the photo above , who was boasting himself with bread in front of starving children, is now the food himself. For the worms.
The saddest thing is that the same and similar things happened and happens to the children throughout world. The Genocide by Hitler was the repetition of the Armenian. In every war, children are the ones who suffer most.
And nowadays, what happens nowadays?Children are starving, tortured, killed worldwide..Human race lost its dignity .Let's call us- lost humanity.
