    Healthy Playtime on the Farm

I'm the 'Barn Faerie' at Connolly Ranch. My regular title is 'Preschool Program Director', but I think Barn Faerie is more fun! For 13 years I have been part of the magic at Napa's Connolly Ranch, where we connect kids to nature through farm-based education. At our camps and classes, we teach and inspire thousands of children each year to know and understand where their food comes from. Because they have such hands-on experience with the whole food cycle, our preschoolers literally play throughout the garden collecting raw kale, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, elder berries, figs, nectarines... or whatever happens to be growing at the moment, and eat it straight! Farm fresh eggs and goat milk cheese are yummy, healthy treats we indulge in too. So, growing and eating whole, real, food is one of the ways we get healthy here in Napa County. And all the running, jumping, climbing, swinging, hanging, digging, raking, hauling etc we do throughout our day at play is a big part of it too!
