    Your 'Aha' weight-loss moments

    Interesting that this weight loss article opportunity hit my yahoo news page today. One year ago today, I make my decision to change my life. I was a miserable 294 pounds and morbidly obese. Today I am a very healthy 188 at 5'10 and working towards training for my first 1/2 marathon; regularly running 5k events! I found this to be my freedom and love; now that I battled and overcame food addiction. I carried that excess 'baggage' not only physically, but emotionally for such a very long time. I came from an abusive marriage, 15 years divorced this fall. Nevertheless; until one changes what is going on in their mind, it is very hard to make a change. I was ready, one year ago today to make this change. I made up my mind that I would do 2 things for 2014. Run a 5k and go on a mission trip for my church. I have done both, in my new healthy body with a very healthy lifestyle. I decided that I wanted to purge my cabinets and refrigerator, one year ago, and start a new life. I have not looked back one time.. not once! It has been easier than I thought it would be. Yes, hard work and dedication; but my mind was in such a spot to be ready, this journey has been very rewarding and honestly fun! I love to run, instead of binge on junk foods now. I recently found a new love for hiking; as I enjoyed so very much up in the Andes mountains on my recent mission trip; a few short weeks ago. My life is amazing now. I started with Chris and Heidi Powell's food chart and learned from there. Once I got the dietary part down and lost about 30 pounds; I started to do exercise I enjoyed and more pounds melted off. I will never be obese again. I love the new body that has formed as a result of losing my mental baggage, followed by the physical baggage. I am not on a diet, but lifestyle change. It is about eating correctly, not extreme diet fads and such. Eating foods that are good for my body, along with balance in my life has been the key to opening that new path to a better, healthy lifestyle. I eat wholesome good for me foods and found out how to cook all the foods I enjoyed before, just in a healthy way! Loving this life now and wondering what this next year will bring for me! I have included a before and after pictures of the new me!
