Saturday was a great day at Coney Island. Not only was it history day with a rocket tour and free Tang and Moon Pies but a big Good Humor truck pulled in giving out free ice cream. Anyone who lined up could get one, young and old. In fact, I went up twice as I was baking in the sun right near the truck. People were lining up to get their ice cream which came in an assortment of kinds and flavors, from Strawberry Shortcake bars, to Magnum ice cream bars, to Choco Tacos, which I had for the first time and they were delicious. They didn't chintz out. They were full size and generous. I found out that Good Humor is taking a joy ride through the city this summer delivering free ice cream to events, retailers, officers, parks. Nick Soukas, director of Unilever said "We want to bring the joy of ice cream to the neighborhoods of NY all summer." If you live in the area or are visiting from out of town you can check out where the free ice cream truck will be by following @GoodHumor on Facebook or twitter. Try those Choco Tacos if you dare!
