Robin Williams - A Childhood Friend to Us All

This makes me very sad. Robin was my absolute favorite actor of all time, with the movie, Bicentennial Man, at the top of my list. His roles span my childhood, starting with Mork and Mindy, which was a spin-off from Happy Days. His first movies, such as the the hilarious "Popeye," "The World According to Garp," and the amazing role he played as Adrian Cronauer in "Good Morning, Vietnam" were key movies in my teenage years that help define my sense of humor and worldview.

As a parent I loved him for his roles in children's movies as the voice of the Genie in "Aladdin," the dad willing to go the extra mile in "Mrs. Doubtfire," and the Peter Pan that grew up in "Hook". And who could forget his role as Teddy Roosevelt in "Night at the Museum." My children adored him.

I am actually in tears. This was a wonderful man who made a great many people laugh, think, and wonder at his ability to become his roles and project that belief into them. He will be greatly missed.
