    Flooding in SE Michigan

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Meredith Andrews and a group of motorists found themselves stranded on Interstate-696 in metro Detroit during Monday’s evening rush hour after rain flooded the freeway. She said she was stuck for four-and-a-half hours, with cars not moving on anywhere around her. Andrews maneuvered over curbs and exited at Mound Road in Warren, Michigan, to look for higher ground. Once the rain stopped, she filmed this video of the inundated interstate, which was flooded with several feet of water.

“The freeways are all closed,” Andrews said on Wednesday. “The ones that have drained have such a layer of mud on them that they’re going to have to clean them and evaluate if they’re safe to drive on.”

Roads and highways are flooded in South East Michigan causing thousands of stranded motorists. This video was taken at 696 and Mound Road. Roads are flooded deeper than 10 feet in all directions. In the video you see a large truck submerged and a glimpse of a red car that is almost completely under water.
