    In Memoriam

    Tribute to Robin Williams

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     ericforst was thrilled to meet a comic legend in Banff, Alberta in 2005. ' After this meeting, it struck me as to how good of a person he was. There was this incredible amount of talent, yes. But underneath it all, was this generous, kind, humble person who found himself speechless when another American icon had asked him for his autograph. He didn’t feel worthy to be standing in the same space as Buzz Aldrin. Robin seemed to feel like his popularity was sort of artificial, compared to someone who had been in space. It was a really touching moment. I’ve met a lot of celebrities over the years and a lot of times their real personalities don’t come through. They’re being ‘on’ for the crowd. This was the ‘real’ Robin Williams, he wasn’t afraid to show it. It was a pleasure to be there to experience that. '
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

I had the privilege of meeting Robin Williams at a charity function in Banff, Alberta. He was an incredibly friendly, genuine, person. I got to witness a truly memorable moment when Robin got to meet US astronaut Buzz Aldrin. I was finishing my conversation with Robin when Buzz walked over and meekly asked Robin if he could get an autograph! Buzz said that he was truly honoured to meet him. Robin almost fell over! He gasped and bowed deeply to Buzz Aldrin saying that it was him that should be honoured to meet such an amazing person. Someone who had been to the moon! He was just an actor! It was such a touching moment between these two legends. I was so happy to have witnessed it.
