    My tribute to Robin Williams

Feeling devastating grief due to Robin Williams passing, the world lost a brilliant & rare talent. I vividly remember being 12 years old after arriving here from Cuba in 1981 and not being able to speak or understand English but yet being glued to our television after school everyday watching Mork & Mindy and intrigued at what this very visibly funny man was saying…Thanks to the gestures, sounds and his loving smile I now realize that I pushed myself to learn the new language as fast as possible so I can also understand and laugh while watching that unforgettable sitcom. I have also suffered from severe depression from time to time, I have always considered myself a talented and tough athlete but the best way I can describe it is this overwhelming sadness that cripples you to the point of feeling hopeless and empty. I can only imagine his state of despair for him to do such a thing, he once said that suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems but yet he couldn’t help himself . Thru his dramatic roles he always made us think, cry and laugh, he was also a caring human being who showed his gentle soul by doing charity work, supporting causes or giving our troops moral support. I now pray that we can honor him by working towards better understanding and solutions for this lethal decease. I send my love and prayers to his family and everyone who loved him…. My heart is broken
