    In Memoriam

    Tragedy in his humor

As a child of the 70s and 80s, my earliest media exposure included Robin Williams as someone who brought drama to his comedy and fun to the serious. He mixed the two so well, his fans believed his characters were just as real as any of us, and were never far from a hysterical one-liner or insightful prose we repeat over and again, bringing tears to our eyes each time. His quotes alone don't do Robin justice, as his physical comedy was often undervalued as I believe it was his most valuable asset, for when he combined facial expressions with his never-ending encyclopedia of comedic adaptations, any situation could become hysterical.

Thank you Robin for bringing such joy to my life and to that of my family, for I have ensured that my sons got to experience the hilarity and insightfulness that was you. I only wish that you didn't have to endure your pain to the point where you couldn't find a way to cope. Your legions of fans, colleagues and fellow man will remember and miss you with great admiration, and I thank you for the memories.
