    Remembering The Fallen

On my last night in London it was a gorgeous night to spend time reflecting by the river Thames. I sat by the edge of the Thames on the South Bank near Westminster bridge (a popular place for tourists) people watching and looking for photo opportunities. As darkness fell, the city of London memorialized the 17 million lives lost during WWI with lights stretching into the sky. I captured this photo as a river boat painted a streak of light underneath the Westminster bridge.

Reflecting on this memorial and the sacrifice so many people made for us in generations past and remembering the millions of innocent lives lost to war brings to mind a complex sense of gratitude, sadness and urgency to find better solutions for our political future.

I've never considered myself someone to campaign against war and at times it seems humanity is pushed into the necessity of it to protect our way of life. However, it is my hope that we all strive to find innovative ways bring more peace into our lives and avoid war whenever possible. It seems that often the worst of the war affects the unarmed or innocent more than those in combat.
