    Red Rock Hydroelectric Project

The Red Rock Hydroelectric Project is being built on an existing Army Corps of Engineers dam at Lake Red Rock near Pella, Iowa.

Today was the ground breaking ceremony. Lieutenant Governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds spoke at the event. She mentioned that this project will make Iowa's energy source fifty percent renewable energy.

The project will be finished in 2018 and produce up to 55 megawatts. Once completed the Red Rock project will be the second largest hydroelectric facility in the State of Iowa and a valuable addition to the diverse power supply that Missouri River Energy Services has secured for its member communities.
