Portland says, 'Hands up! Don't shoot!'

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     An energizing protest erupted on the streets of Portland, Oregon, on August 14, Darren Montufar said. He photographed people who were protesting and demanding justice for Michael Brown, a teenager who died during a confrontation with police on August 9. He says the mood was positive, and says people were demanding safety for their children and an end to police brutality. "I felt I was witnessing something powerful that had national relevance," he said. "I feel peaceful demonstrations such as this one are beneficial to communicating distrust and unhappiness, and it can correct imbalances."
