    Police brutality protests

    NYC Michael Brown demonstration

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Hundreds of demonstrators streamed through the streets of New York City on August 14, chanting phrases like "Michael Brown was gunned down," and, "No justice. No peace," in protest to the death of Michael Brown, an 18-year-old teenager who died after a confrontation with police in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9. Carol Kim captured video of the procession of protesters on Thursday. "From what I witnessed, the protest appeared to be quite peaceful as it came through Herald Square up along Broadway," she said. "The protest seemed to be composed of both organized protestors and regular passersby who joined the movement as they made their way uptown." She just observed the demonstration while passing through the area, but was inspired to share the video after watching people march. "Witnessing this rally where all kinds of people were peacefully marching together to demand justice was very moving," she said.
