    Ebola Crisis In Nigeria

It is not news that the ebola epidemic is an international emergency. the number of people confirmed dead is now climbing above that of victims in the gaza war. the kenyan medical association were courageous enough to make it known to the world that they were not ready to tackle the epidemic. But it is even more frightening when a country known for corruption and among the countries with the infection starts sacking the foot soldiers (doctors) who would be responsible for the fight against the infection and there by endangering the lives of everyone in this world. The president of nigeria Goodluck Ebele Jonathan announced the suspension of residency training for medical doctors in nigeria and the issuance of sack letters to the doctors affected. this is a bad omen as it may result in a total shut down of the health sector in this country and so make efforts at containing the virus and taking care of patients impossible. Not long ago turkey had a scare of a nigerian patient who boarded an airplane bound for turkey and started vomiting on board. how did this happen? Also a nurse left the quarantine area in the city of lagos and went to another state enugu where more people were exposed. Nigeria can not be trusted in this fight if they cannot put their house in order. the international community and especially the world health organisation should as a matter of urgency put nigeria as a high risk nation and suspend all flight to and from the country until the epidemic can be put under control.
